Is there any way to move a ringtone that I've acquired from a friend via text message from My Sounds to My Ringtones?

I can't figure it out...  but am very interested in learning how to do so.

Also looking for NY Giants soundclips... especially Bob Papa stuff.  I know it can't be uploaded here, and my email is hidden.  Post if you have stuff and we'll figure out how to swap stuff (I don't have much, but maybe I have something you don't?).

Thanks.

I just managed to send/email myself a ringtone.... needs to be a wav file

email to
10digitphonenumber@vzwpix.com

Using the ringtone on your phone

Verizon Wireless Motorola
Note: You can not set the downloaded ringtone when phone is in vibrate mode. Please remove the vibrate only mode before you follow these steps.

   1. Open the PIX/MMS message (the song may start to play)
   2. Click 'Menu'
   3. Select 'Details'
   4. Select 'Save Item'
   5. Set the downloaded song as your ringtone. Note: This option is not available when phone is in vibrate mode

As soon as I get back to my campus (where all my microSDs are), I'm definitely going to do some work in this category.

Ok, here's the best way to load your own ringtones.  (I do this with .mp3 clips)

Step #1.  Put your MicroSD card in your computer (I use an iogear USB adapter that accept the microSD card)
Step #2.  On your computer you'll see 5 folders on the card (4 if you have system files hidden). One folder is your sounds folder.  (They're labeled so it's idiot proof) Copy your ringtones to your sounds folder.
Step #3.  Put your microSD back in the phone and browse to your sounds. (Media Center -> Tones & Sounds -> My Sounds)
Step #4.  Click on the ringtone you want, it will start playing.  When it starts playing click send at the bottom of the phone and choose Picture Message.  Send the message to yourself.
Step #5.  After it sends, you'll receive a picture message.  Open the message and click on the little picture of the bell.  A menu will pop-up and the 3rd option down is "Save as Ringtone".  Click that and you're good to go.  Now the ringtone shows up under My Ringtones and you can set them for whatever you want.

I know this is a pain way to do it but it appears to be the only way.  Verizon has locked out the ability to bluetooth sound files for use as ringtones because of copyright laws.  I guess they don't want to get sued by the music bigwigs.

It's really not that hard to do anyway.  It's not like the card is under the battery like in some of the other new moto phones.

The emails are getting timed out and sending a message to myself didn't work either  Cry

If I recall, the ringtone clips have to be under a certain size.  I want to say 300kb, that sounds right but don't hold me to it.  If your emails are timing out or you can't send the message to yourself it could be that your ringtone clip is too big.  You can edit the clip with Audacity or other software that's readily available on the internet.

Turn off and back on?

Re: file size...

Smallest is 224 KB
Others range from 1.6 - 3.5 MB

Thanks for the help.

I have successfully saved my ringtone to my sounds. When I send it to myself and touch the bell I only get 2 options. "PLAY" or "SAVE SOUND". I don't get an option for save as ringtone. Do you have the ZN4? Am I doing something wrong?

You must be doing something wrong.  There should be 4 options ... Play, Save Sound, Save as Ringtone, and Set As Ringer ID.  However, if you click Save Sound it will still save it to your Ringtones folder and then you can set it as a ringtone that way.  Yes, my phone is the Krave ZN4 ... no modifications.

I also only got 2 choices.   "PLAY" or SAVE SOUND"  I chose save sound and it went to my sounds foulder...not as a ringtone.   Did you ever figure out how to save as a ringtone?
