What do you guys think of the clear flip for the Krave? I think it is pretty cool how you can still access the touch screen through the flip. What are your thoughts?

I work in an IT department for a medical supplier, and all the geeks here are blown away with the clear flips screen. (Of course they all know I'm a new gadget wh***!)When they see you can interact with it closed, they flip. And when they realize the earpiece is on the flip, they all start looking for a wire.

It does get in the way of the qwerty keyboard, but I'm not that much of a texter, so I can work around it.

I think it makes the whole thing look like an communicator from the original Star Trek.  If only one could make custom skins for the UI...Wink

I kinda like it. The only thing I would be concerned about is getting in the way of texting.

The clear flip is amazing.
It DOES get in the way when texting, and so far I have not found anyone with a solution.
I did do some research and found out the speaker is connected via many many microscopic wires that run through the flip.
People compare to the ming, but in the ming, you can clearly see two wires running through the flip to the speaker.

I like the clear cover though agree it is a bit awkward with the qwerty keyboard.  I use the cover buttons mainly when I'm listening to music to move to the next song.  It would be nice if you could turn the music player off from the clear cover but I don't think you can -- you have to open the phone.  I've attached pictures to my frequent callers' contact entries and it's awesome how a huge picture of them shows up on the clear cover when they call.  I put a completely black picture as my wallpaper and think that looks great with the clock and buttons on the front.  I also like that you can work the camera without opening the phone -- it really feels like a camera in your hand and the clear cover is an excellent view finder.

I agree.
You can exit the music player without opening the flip though.
You must press the back button a few times.
I will admit it is a bit tedious though.

Yeah, the clear flip does get in the way for texting, thats the only thing that bothers me. i found that putting the flip up at a 90degree angle made texting with the qwerty much easier.

I like being able to hit a side button to look at the screen without opening the phone.  I rarely do anything else from the clear cover, though, because it is always locked.  If I leave it unlocked it is too sensitive to small movements of the phone such as are frequent when commuting.  I can't tell you how often the VZ Navigator lady has come on unexpectedly trying to get me to sign up for the service.  Also, music starts playing for no reason.  Finally, as others have commented on, the inability to customize the icons on the screen further limit its usefulness.

The clear flip is cool... What sucks is you can't chose which menu items are accessible thru the flip- I use NONE of the available menus, they are all functions I have no use for (except pictures). C'mon Verizon- give us the ability to pick which menu items are available with the flip closed!
