I charge my phone when I sleep however when the phone is charging the backlight stays on constantly. I cannot find a setting to turn this off. I like my room pitch black and even placing phone on its front still emits light.

no setting to do that. besides throwing something over the top of it, you could minimize light by choosing a dark wallpaper (like forte) or even take a picture of a black surface and set that as the wallpaper)

I agree there is no way to turn it off. But it puts out less light than your wallpaper if you turn the phone off and then start charging. This way it uses a dim green charging screen.
