I bought a cable at Radio Shack that is universal, and you can buy tips for your specific phone. So I bought the right tip for my Krave.

I installed the drivers and plugged it in, and the phone beeped and it started charging, but the PC did nothing.

I tried running the Software updater, and it says that my phone is disconnected.

I tried re-installing the USB drivers, a couple of times. I was on the phone with Motorola for about an hour and the guy I talked to couldn't figure it out either. He said someone would call me back today about it, but I just wondered if anyone here had dealt with that and knew the solution.

I know my cable isn't an official Motorola cable, but it is charging the phone so I would think it should work.

Any advice?

Its that universal tip thing. I bought a cable at Best buy that had the switchable tip. It did the same thing- would charge the phone, but the computer would not see it.

So I went and bought a USB cable that had the proper tip- this one worked perfectly.

That stinks. But I will still be able to use it to charge the phone, so it's not a total waste of money.
I went ahead and got my phone updated at a verizon store today anyway.

Thanks for the reply.

Funny- I did the same thing. Took that universal one to my office and use it to charge my phone.

go into music, sync music while it's connected to the computer.  it'll connect, but won't give you full access to the phone - only to the music folder.  so it's still a pain to get pictures on & off the phone.  putting the card into a card reader in my computer is the only way I've found to do that.
